We challenge students to think deeply, explore widely, and grow with confidence. Discover how our academic programs inspire curiosity and support every learner, from JK through Middle School.
Across all grades at SCA, we share a common approach
Challenge all and engage learners in deep, meaningful work
Growth comes from being challenged. Not only challenged with another worksheet, but challenged to think a big thought, to complete a stimulating project or to see a problem in a new way. Students will accept being challenged and will see their work as meaningful especially as it relates to their interests and experiences.
Encourage students to explore new ideas and understand multiple perspectives
Students can better connect different ideas, place new insights into context and challenge their assumptions by gaining a multitude of perspectives. We aim for our students, staff and curriculum to be as rich and diverse as the world around us.
Support the whole child
Students do their best learning when they are in a safe, supportive environment and surrounded by educators who are attuned to their emotional, social as well as academic needs. Inquiry requires taking risks. Learning involves ‘failing forward’. We are intentional in building an environment that promotes learning.
Our Approach in Action
SMALL SKILL-BASED GROUPS
Our reading and math classes are split into smaller groups of around ten students and are based on student ability by subject. For example, if your child is ahead of grade level in one subject but at grade level in the other then their group placement will reflect that.
STEM Program
Students have STEM twice per week, starting in Junior Kindergarten.ย STEM at Sonder is a trimester each of Engineering, Coding and then Robotics.ย We have a hands-on Science program as well, and combined with our STEM program, students are engaging in real world problem solving almost every day.
SMALL CLASS SIZES
Our homeroom classes and core subjects have between 18-22 students, smaller than many schools but still large enough to promote socialization and support group projects.
Pre-AP
For middle schoolers, our Pre-AP courses provide rigorous, high-level learning experiences, preparing them for a smooth transition into high school honors and AP programs.
Inquiry-based Learning
That โah-haโ moment.ย The โI wonder what would happen ifโฆโ.ย Our students ask questions, explore, and pursue deep learning.ย Through a combination of projects, hands on activities, experiential learning opportunities and more our students engage in inquiry-based learning.
Emotional Intelligence
We help students develop their Growth Mindsets and further their leadership skills in our weekly Emotional Intelligence class.ย More and more research shows that healthy attitudes towards learning and overcoming challenges are instrumental to not only academic success but to emotional well-being as well.
Authentic Spanish and Mandarin Programs
Students have the choice of pursuing either Spanish or Mandarin.ย Both languages are taught four days per week, and most importantly, both languages are taught in the language. This is not memorizing vocabulary and verb conjugations.ย We want children to develop an authenticย feelย for a language through listening, conversation, games and reading.ย Junior Kindergartners and Kindergartners get two days a week of each before needing to choose.
One School, Three Campuses โ A Connected Learning Experience
Sonder Creek Academy provides a seamless educational journey across three specialized campuses, each thoughtfully designed to support learning, growth, and community. While each campus offers unique experiences, we remain one cohesive school, ensuring every student benefits from the same high-quality education and nurturing environment.

Hands-On Learning & Experiential Opportunities
We believe that learning should extend beyond textbooks and classrooms. At Sonder Creek Academy, students are immersed in experiential learning through hands-on projects, field trips, and team-building activities. Whether it’s conducting science experiments, exploring nature on a field trip, or participating in a Student Council event, our students gain real-world experience that enhances their academic knowledge and personal growth.
Student Life at SCA
Student life at Sonder Creek Academy is vibrant, inclusive, and engaging. We offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to encourage leadership, creativity, and teamwork. Whether through Student Council, Odyssey of the Mind, sports, or our after-school programs, there are countless opportunities for students to explore new interests, collaborate with peers, and develop leadership skills.
In addition, we offer multicultural enrichment programs, including an International Lunch Program that introduces students to cuisines from around the world, promoting cultural awareness and a global perspective.

Pre-AP Courses
For middle school students, we offer Pre-AP courses, designed to provide a high-level learning experience that prepares students for high school honors and AP programs. These courses emphasize critical thinking, advanced problem-solving skills, and a rigorous academic approach to ensure that students are equipped for future academic challenges.
