At Sonder Creek Academy, our 2nd–4th grade program deepens students’ understanding of core academic subjects while encouraging them to explore new interests through a variety of enrichment opportunities.

Core Subjects
Students engage in focused instruction in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.
Enrichment Opportunities
In addition to core academics, students explore art, technology, and foreign languages to help them discover and develop new interests.
Language Options Tailored to Real-World Use
Spanish or Mandarin Chinese
Beginning in 2nd grade, students choose between Spanish and Mandarin Chinese as their foreign language focus.
Practical Language Learning
Classes emphasize conversation and listening skills rather than grammar drills, preparing students to use the language in everyday life.
Personalized Learning in Small Groups
Homeroom Classes
Homerooms typically have around 18 students, with a maximum of 20 students.
Small Group Instruction
For math and reading, students are divided into smaller groups of 8–12. This allows teachers to tailor lessons—reinforcing fundamentals for those who need extra support, while offering advanced work for students ready to move ahead.
Supporting Academic Growth
Study Hall
Built into the daily schedule, study hall allows many students to complete homework before heading home.
After School Classes
Optional after school classes are available after school, and these activities are homework-free, giving students the chance to explore new skills and interests in a relaxed setting.
