Admissions & tuition

We look forward to meeting new students and families and we encourage you to get to know us via our Campus Tours and Information Sessions.

Get to know us

Campus Tours:

Campus Tours are the best way to see the campus and experience a bit of our school in action!  During your visit our Head of School will tell you more about our program and will answer any questions that you may have.  As we want to meet our families we do ask that at least one parent or guardian do a campus tour, but this may occur before or after submitting your application.  We have tour dates and times that you can reserve via the links below, but if you do not see a time that works for you please either call us at 925-440-1229 or email us at admissions@sondercreekacademy.org and we will be happy to find a time that works for you.

Information Sessions:

Information Sessions are the best way to hear from some of the teachers that make Sonder special.  Each info session will have a mix of teachers from across our grades and subjects.  They look forward to sharing more about what their classes and/or after school activities look like.   While most families find these sessions informative, these sessions are optional and families can attend either before or after touring or applying.

We will have more Information Sessions coming soon.

If you would like to learn more, join our mailing list to be contacted for future Information Sessions, tours, enrollment, applications, or more.

Modified Tuition

Sonder Creek Academy is an inclusive community that is meant to be accessible to a broad range of families and promising students.  To further support this goal, we are pleased to offer a modified tuition option.

Applying for modified tuition will not impact admissions decisions.  We have partnered with a third party provider, School and Student Services (SSS), to help process modified tuition applications.

In addition to completing the application steps shown above, to apply for modified tuition please use the SSS program portal button below.  On this SSS site you will create an account,  be prompted to provide certain information and upload financial documents as well.  SSS utilizes this information to help determine a potential modified tuition amount.

We do not want our application fee or the SSS processing fee to be a barrier to applying.  Please let us know if you have any concerns.

To start your Modified Tuition Program Application via our SSS platform, please visit our:

applICATION PROCESS

We are in rolling admissions and we will continue accepting applications and new students pending class availability, i.e., up to twenty students per grade.

We encourage you to get to know us, and we look forward to getting to know you.  When you are ready to apply, please…

  • Complete the 2024 – 2025 Application, available via the link below.  We request one application per student, which may mean more than one per family.
  • Request a Teacher Recommendation, also available as a separate link below.  Teachers can provide the recommendation up to two weeks after you submit your application.
  • Email us the most recent Current Year’s Report Card and the Full Year Report Card from the prior year.  We understand that every school does report cards differently, and that our younger applicants may not have report cards at all.  Please send report cards to admissions@sondercreekacademy.org, subject line “Report Cards for Applicant Name”
  • Please mail us the Non-Refundable $100 Application Fee.  Mailing instructions are included in the application.  Families are encouraged to tour and/or attend an information before applying.  The Shadow Day experience (below) is reserved for applicants.

Once we receive your application we will reach out within a few days to schedule your applicant’s Shadow Day, or, class visit.  As part of the application process our potential students will spend a half day with us (shorter for JK and Kinder) so that they may experience a mix of academics and social activities, as well as meet their new friends.  Within about two weeks of the Shadow Day experience we will then communicate next steps.
